Joe Teirab Continues to Primary - (04/27/24)
Joe Teirab reaffirms earlier decision to continue to primary as the only viable candidate to prosecute the case against Angie Craig.
BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Today, Joe Teirab thanked supporters for coming out to support his candidacy at the 2nd Congressional District Endorsing Convention. Teirab announced earlier this week that, given multiple changes in the circumstances surrounding the race, he would be continuing to the primary regardless of the outcome at the endorsing convention.
“First of all, I’d like to congratulate Tayler Rahm for his victory today. After making our announcement that we would be continuing on our fight to the August 13th primary election, it was still important to me that we finish this process strong and be here in the fight with the delegates that have been with us every step of the way,” said Teirab.
After much consideration, Teirab announced his decision to continue his campaign earlier this week, despite knowing it would cost support among the delegates. Teirab cited his Republican opponent’s lackluster fundraising numbers and recent press reports that Taylor Rahm had scrubbed his legal website before entering into the congressional district race. Rahm’s financial situation is of particular note. With just $59k cash on hand, Rahm enters the primary with the least cash on hand of any endorsed candidate in MN02 since the early 2000s. In contrast to Rahm, Teirab has $662,000 cash on hand.
“This election is too important to let Angie Craig go against the weakest Republican challenger in decades,” Teirab continued. “We have the message and the resources to prosecute the case against Angie Craig, and I look forward to earning the trust and support of Republican primary voters.”
