Marine Veteran and Former Federal Prosecutor Joe Teirab Enters Race for Minnesota's 2nd Congressional District. Will Focus on Public Safety and Economic Growth - (10/18/23)
BURNSVILLE, MN. – Today, Marine Corps Veteran and former federal prosecutor Joe Teirab announced that he will run for Minnesota's 2nd Congressional District seat currently being held by Angie Craig.
“I've been blessed to live the American dream,” said Teirab. “I am the son of a Sudanese immigrant. I am the grandson of a World War II POW. I grew up in a small town in southwest Minnesota before attending Harvard Law School and joining the United States Marine Corps. If there is one lesson that generations of my family have taught me, it is the value of service and giving back.
“Service has been the guiding principle of my life. From Iraq with the Marines to prosecuting criminals across Minnesota, giving back to my country and community has been my life's work. It would be an honor to continue that service representing Minnesotans in the south Metro in Congress.
“Along my professional journey I've seen the sad and deadly results of failed leadership,” Teirab continued.
“I've prosecuted drug crimes linked to Mexican cartels and seen the carnage Joe Biden and Angie Craig's refusal to secure our border has caused. I saw the devastating effects of weak-on-crime politicians when I co-led a RICO case against the Bloods street gang in Minneapolis and when I put a man who murdered a police officer behind bars. I've seen government waste and how people take advantage of our country's generosity when I helped the effort to prosecute those who stole over $250 million meant to feed hungry children and instead funded their lavish lifestyles.
“I'm running for Congress to fight for safer communities, to put an end to Bidenomics that has made life unaffordable for too many families, to get our debt and deficit under control and to ensure safety and prosperity for all Minnesotans.”
